Being Creative During Adversity

Adversity comes in many forms: Financial, lost gigs due to the pandemic, your health or the health of your loved one…

For me, it was my health. It was one thing after another. Almost an entire year of "What next?"

It started in late April of 2021 and roller-coasted its way through the rest of that year and has continued into this year.

Talk about bad luck-

Bad health and losing gigs – not good.

The reason I mention this is, at many points along the way, I've wondered to myself How do I maintain any sense of creativity while going through these things? How do I stay positive, stay strong, and forge ahead?

With the love of family and friends it is possible.

Very fortunately, I have been blessed with having a studio at home. Since I wasn’t going anywhere, I decided to use my time to dig deeper musically—to see what kind of music I could create.

I surprised myself.

The music I composed and produced truly reflected how I was feeling at the time. Some of it was Holy in nature, some classical, ambient, EDM, and a lot of guitar stuff. About 100 pieces of music.

So what do I do with all this?

My Partners at ChromeOrange Music have guided me through copywriting, editing, compiling a list of music supervisors to contact, and arranging my music for multi usability.

I’ve also started teaching myself video production, using Premiere Pro and after effects. Tutorials can be found on Youtube for pretty much everything.

The results can be seen on my website: https://www.lazaruscrow.com/shows

That’s another thing. Learn how to create a website that will showcase your work, music, art, anything.

Learn as much as you can.

Stay strong.

Never give up.

Never give in.
